The Easton Arts Trail 2010
Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 June 2010, 11am – 6pm

This year the EAT Team came up with a blooming marvelous theme for the trail: Art & Flowers Up Front, featuring our very own Chelsea Flower Show and a brand new Front Garden Competition too. The event was a huge success with visitors numbers of up to 300 on Sunday at some of the houses in the centre of the arts trail, visitor numbers were down on Saturday as the arts trail unfortunately clashed with St Werburgh’s Farm Festival – even though EAT organisers do their best to choose a weekend that didn’t clash with other major events, it is unfortunate that many events clash in the Summer in Bristol.
My highlights include the Chelsea Flower Show, the beautiful artist’s garden on Hinton Road, the amazing range of work on show at St Mark’s Baptist Church, the Somali Meal at Muller Hall, sitting in the sunshine listening to the Easton Community Choir and African Sambistas at St Anne’s Church and having a pint, hanging out with friends and wandering round the exhibition at the Greenbank Pub.
The Easton Arts Trail 2010 took place in 30 different venues, including open houses, local churches, community venues, cafes and pubs, with over 55 artists and arts groups exhibiting artwork, performing and running workshops and other activities.

Highlights of the Easton Arts Trail 2010
This year there were three big group exhibitions that took place at St Mark’s Baptist Church on St Mark’s Road, upstairs in the Greenbank Pub on the corner of Bellevue Road and Greenbank Road, and at St Anne’s Church on St Leonard’s Road. The Trinity Arts Centre, at the other end of Easton down near Old Market, opened it’s doors too hosting a mixture of exciting workshops and exhibits from local artists and LinkAge ran a day celebrating the creativity of the older people in Easton at Hassle Drive, by the Lawrence Hill Roundabout.
There were guided walks from Eastside Roots down at Stapleton Road Railway Station and screen printing workshops at the Kebele Cooperative on Robertson Road. And at the heart of the arts trail there were 21 open houses stretching from Fountaine Court over near the Fishponds Road to Vicarage Road over near Whitehall and from Lena Street near Chelsea Park to Camelford Road in Greenbank and everywhere in between.
Arts & Flowers Up Front!
The Chelsea Flower Show at the Chelsea Inn on Chelsea Road was a great success with flower making workshops taking place all weekend.
We will be posted a show reel of photographs from this years event over the next week or two so pop back to have a look soon.
